Spring Surprises: Easter & Animal Awareness

With Easter just around the corner, we’re all feeling the pull of spring—warmer days, blooming flowers, and the joy of new beginnings. But while we fill our baskets with chocolate bunnies and pastel eggs, it’s important to remember that real animals aren’t holiday props.
Each year, well-meaning families buy baby chicks, ducklings, or even bunnies as Easter gifts—only to find that they require more care than expected. Sadly, many of these animals are surrendered or abandoned not long after the holiday.
🐰 Thinking about a bunny?
Rabbits can make wonderful companions, but they aren’t low-maintenance pets. They need specialized diets, lots of space to roam, and gentle, informed handling. They can live 10+ years and require vet care just like cats and dogs.
🦆 Chicks and ducks?
These adorable fluffballs grow fast, need heat, space, and socialization, and they often don’t thrive without proper environments—or companions of their own kind.
This Easter, we encourage families to celebrate with compassion and care:
🧺 Fill baskets with plush animals instead of real ones
🌼 Support local rescues and sanctuaries with spring donations
📷 Visit local farms or petting zoos for an ethical animal experience
Let’s make this season one of kindness—for the animals already in our lives, and for those who rely on us to speak up for them.
