As we enjoy the bloom of spring and celebrate Easter with family and friends, it's important to remember that some seasonal favorites can pose hidden dangers to our pets and the wildlife around us.
Ā
š±Ā Lilies Are BeautifulāBut Deadly
Ā
Did you know that lilies are extremely toxic to cats? Even a nibble of a petal, a lick of pollen, or a sip of water from a vase can cause deadly kidney failure. If you have cats at home, skip the Easter lilies this year and opt for cat-safe alternatives like roses, orchids, or daisies.
Ā
š£Ā Watch Out for Plastic Grass
Ā
That colorful plastic āgrassā in Easter baskets might look festive, but itās dangerous if swallowed by pets or curious wildlife. It can cause choking, blockages, or worse. If youāre assembling baskets, try shredded paper, tissue, or eco-friendly alternatives instead.
Ā
š§ŗĀ Outdoor Gatherings = Open Doors
Ā
With more guests and backyard festivities, cats and dogs can slip out unnoticed. Always double-check doors and gates, and make sure your pets have up-to-date ID tags or are microchipped just in case they get spooked and wander off.
Ā
š¾Ā Wildlife-Friendly Tip
Ā
As you clean up your yard and prep your gardens, remember that wild critters are nesting nearby! Check brush piles and tall grasses carefully before mowing or clearing. Rabbits, turtles, and ground-nesting birds may be closer than you think.
