A Temporary Season of Help at The Woods

Preparing for Spring — From Home

Spring is when everything at The Woods Park & Pavilion begins to move. Tours begin in mid-March, and we open for rentals in mid-April. Contracts are signed, the grounds are prepared, lights are checked, and the property is walked carefully to ensure everything is safe, welcoming, and ready for guests.

This year, I am preparing for that season from home.

Over the past several weeks, I have been undergoing a medical workup for suspected POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome) while also managing worsening back issues that now require a surgical procedure. Between severe nerve pain and episodes of dizziness and near-fainting, I have been largely homebound. On warmer days, I can sometimes leave the house once a week for about an hour, but that is not nearly enough time to physically prepare a venue for opening season.

The majority of my role as Operations Coordinator — approximately 80 percent — can be done remotely. Contracts, scheduling, communication, marketing, and logistics continue as normal from my laptop. However, about 20 percent of this role requires physical presence on the property, and that is where we currently face a temporary gap.

Timeline and Temporary Need

Surgery is expected sometime between the end of March and the end of April, with a recovery period of at least three weeks. During that window, I will not be able to safely or consistently be on site.

This is not a request for help for the entire season. It is not a permanent position. It is temporary support needed primarily from the start of tours in mid-March through surgical recovery in late spring.

What We Are Looking For

We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented volunteer who can work alongside me during this period. The time commitment would likely be modest — approximately one to two hours per week at most — but it would be meaningful.

Responsibilities would include:

  • Meeting prospective renters for scheduled tours

  • Walking them through the grounds and answering basic questions (with me available remotely)

  • Assisting with rental contracts and paperwork

  • Serving as on-site eyes and ears to notice repairs, clean-up needs, or follow-up items

Communication Is Key

Because I will be coordinating remotely, strong communication is essential. This person would need to be comfortable texting, responding to emails, participating in occasional video calls, and taking and sending photos of the property so we can assess needs together in real time.

On occasion, this person may also need to stop by my home to pick up printed materials, such as rental contracts or paperwork needed for scheduled tours.

You would not be operating independently. Scheduling, paperwork, communication, and oversight would remain with me. What we need is someone physically present when I cannot be.

Why This Matters

The Woods supports Homeless to Home Animal Rescue & Cat Sanctuary. Every rental contributes directly to food, medical care, and rescue efforts. Maintaining spring momentum is critical, and I do not want my health challenges to slow the mission.

If You Can Help

If you are dependable, comfortable communicating consistently, and willing to help bridge this temporary season, we would deeply appreciate hearing from you. You can message us on Facebook, on our Contact page, by text to (740) 396-8228, or by email (thewoodspark.h2h@outlook.com) for more information.

If you are not personally available but know someone who might be, please share this article or send it directly to them (share buttons at the bottom). Sometimes the right person simply needs to see the opportunity.

I am hopeful about surgery and hopeful about healing. In the meantime, we are asking our community to help us carry this work forward for just a little while.

Thank you all in advance for your kindness and support while we try to navigate this upcoming season and I navigate my health mini-crisis.

-Kimberly Bryant, Operations Coordinator
