At Homeless to Home, our volunteers wear many hats... and sometimes they wear the title of published author.
This week, we’re shining our Volunteer Spotlight (new bi-weekly-ish segment!) on Kimberly Bryant, our Operations Coordinator at The Woods. Why? Because something amazing happened, of course!

Kimberly's debut novel, Marked by Fate, just hit a major milestone. For five days straight, her book was officially ranked in Amazon’s Top 100 in the category of Teen & Young Adult Science Fiction & Dystopian Romance eBooks—a huge accomplishment for any author, but especially for one who’s chosen the brave and often uphill path of self-publishing.
We could gush about the book (and you should totally check it out—it’s a rollercoaster of emotions in the best way), but what makes this moment extra special is knowing how much Kimberly gives to HTH/The Woods behind the scenes. She’s the creative engine behind our marketing materials, flyers, event promotion, and this newsletter. She coordinates vendors, builds community partnerships, and brainstorms ideas late into the night—all to help us support the animals and keep the rescue moving forward.
So when one of our own reaches a milestone like this? We celebrate it!
Kimberly began her journey with Homeless to Home in the summer of 2023. Back then, she was simply a renter of The Woods—choosing our venue to host her very first craft show, Father’s Day Family Fun Day. In a gesture of generosity, she chose to dedicate the event to Homeless to Home, running a gift basket raffle to raise funds for the rescue.
Since then, she’s hosted five shows at The Woods, each time giving back through raffles and promotions. After seeing her passion and talent in action, we asked Kimberly to officially join us as Operations Coordinator of The Woods. She said yes, of course!
Now, a year later, we have watched Kimberly blossom in the role. She has brought fresh and exciting ideas to our venue, started this newsletter, and continues to find time to go on this long, personal journey of becoming a self-published author. We’re honestly not sure when she sleeps!
But what we are sure of is this: Building a community means lifting each other up. And this week, we’re raising a paw in applause for Kimberly—and Marked by Fate.
📚 Curious about the book? You can find it everywhere books are sold under the pen name K.B. Riley. And if you’re attending the Jingle Bells & Summer Sales Craft Festival next weekend, Kimberly will have signed copies available at her booth!
