Meow-o-ween at the Sanctuary: A Night in the Life of a Very Happy Cat 🎃🐾

ree

Hello, humans.

Ms. Kitty here — professional window watcher, treat enthusiast, and proud resident of the Homeless to Home Cat Sanctuary.

I thought I’d take a moment away from my very demanding schedule (napping, judging other cats, napping again) to share what life has been like around here during October nights. Let me tell you something:

Meow-o-ween season is the BEST season.

When the sun goes down and the air turns chilly, that’s when things get exciting. The whole Sanctuary hums differently. We can hear the wind rattling the trees outside, but inside? It’s warm, soft, and full of the kind of mischief only cats can create.

And Meow-o-ween itself?... oh, that night was something special.

Vicki — our beloved human, treat distributor, and overall bringer of joy — surprised us with a catnip party. Yes, you read that right.

CATNIP.

PARTY.

Two of my favorite words in the universe!

She sprinkled it across our toys and blankets, and suddenly the entire Sanctuary erupted like someone had plugged us into an electrical outlet of happiness. One of my friends rolled across the floor like a fuzzy tumbleweed. Another kitty chased a toy that wasn’t actually moving. This one kitty that I tolerate ('cause I get in trouble if I pick a fight) climbed into a basket that was far too small for him but insisted it was “perfect.” And I? Well, I handled it with grace… mostly. (We do not talk about my enthusiastic somersault.)

There was purring, zooming, dramatic flops, enthusiastic grooming, and a general sense that life was good — really, really good.

October nights here always feel special. There’s a kind of comfort that settles over us when the world is quiet and we’re surrounded by safety, warmth, and humans who love us. Meow-o-ween just makes it a little more magical — a reminder that even spooky season has room for soft moments, silly antics, and joyful chaos.

So from all of us kitties in the Sanctuary:

Thank you, Vicki, for the catnip. Thank you to our humans for keeping us safe. And thank you to everyone who supports Homeless to Home — because of you, we get to experience nights like this.

Happy [late] Meow-o-ween, friends. 🎃🐾

Now if you’ll excuse me… I see my blanket calling.
