A Gentle Reminder: Your Help Really Matters

We know that many of you care deeply about the work we do—your kind words, support, and encouragement mean the world to us. We also know how easy it is to see a post asking for help and think, “They’ve probably already got plenty of people signed up.” After all, with over 10,000 followers on Facebook, someone else will surely jump in… right?

The truth is, that assumption—while totally understandable—can sometimes leave us without the help we need.

It’s called the bystander effect. It happens when everyone assumes someone else has already stepped up. But when we all wait for someone else, opportunities to help quietly slip by. And when it comes to things like staffing a fundraising booth, setting up for an event, or helping with a project at The Woods… we sometimes find ourselves short-handed despite all the love and interest we know is out there.

Our regular team of volunteers and workers give so much of themselves—day in and day out—to keep the rescue running and the animals cared for. When we plan something new or exciting, like our upcoming craft shows or outdoor improvements at The Woods, we try not to ask more of those already stretched thin. That’s why we turn to you—our extended family.

Even one extra set of hands can make a huge difference.

So if you've ever thought, “I’d love to help sometime,” consider this your invitation. It doesn't have to be a huge commitment. Maybe it's one shift at a fundraiser. Maybe it's helping with setup. Maybe it's just sharing the post so others see it.
